Why?
- Cardio/Endurance training is one of the many keys to a Footballer’s success on the field-Being able to build up aerobic fitness will allow a player’s recovery to also increase, which is important for double match days and big tournament weekends.
- The games themselves are considered to be high intensity efforts with high intensity movements and cardiovascular work.
- Having that extra aerobic fitness, paired with other components player’s may be working on outside of soccer practice, such as strength and speed training, will give each individual that extra stamina and longevity that the sport requires to be great.
How?
- Answering the question of how cardio/endurance training is important for your footballer, is fairly simple-In order to meet the various physical demands of a single soccer game(sprinting, jumping, turning, etc.) you must have excellent cardiovascular health and endurance.
What?
- In order to increase your footballer’s overall endurance and readiness when hitting the field, They will be taught various forms of dynamic stretching and hip/glute activation prior to each training run, this will allow their muscles to fire the best when engaging in running of any sort(So they could use these prior to their warm-up with the team).
- Following the stretching routine, will be the actual running part, which will be individualized, but in a nutshell will consist of easy running anywhere from 15-30 min. of a continuous run effort in order to get their body, mind, and heart used to this stimulus.
- After the first initial easy runs, I would begin to implement shorter, faster pickups toward the backend of their run,in order to mimic the up/down pace stimulus that they will experience during their soccer matches.
- No matter where one's fitness level is at, there is always an opportunity to grow and push your mind/body in more ways than just one. If the time comes where you would like to utilize this training for your athlete, I'd be more than happy to give more insight on my philosophies and my personal experience with fitness and endurance training-As well as other plans/goals I have to take one's game to the next level.
I currently have a flexible schedule as I know many athletes will be busy throughout the week with school and other practices/training.
